These popular haunting places of Kerala will surely give you a lot of jitters and goosebumps. And to surprise you, some of these places are amongst the top-visiting attractions for explorers. Locals know all about these places but they are still enthusiastic about visiting here.

    If you too consider yourself as an explorer with a strong heart- we suggest you should at least know the backstory as well as the spooky activities that happen in these unearthly places of Kerala.

    List of some spooky places where you should think before visiting

    1. Bonacaud Bungalow

    Bonacaud Bungalow a most haunted place in Kerala

    Location: Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala

    Actually, this is an entire estate that has a long and strong history that has now turned this place into a paranormal tourist spot. It was built in 1951 and was a centre of attraction right from the very beginning. The Bungalow is a part of the entire estate and is located approximately 3 km from the tea estate.

    What happened here?

    It is said that this Bungalow was built by a Britisher who was also the owner of the entire estate. He lived in his bungalow and loved it a lot. So did he love his entire family. But one day his daughter was found dead mysteriously. He left the bungalow and returned to London with his wife. Since then this place is known to be haunted. The bungalow is also popularly known as 25 GB.

    The locals also say that once a young girl went near the bungalow to fetch some woods but as she returned she wasn’t mentally well. Post this people fired up the entire bungalow.

    What spooky things happen here?

    Since the death of that girl, this place is said to be haunted by her spirit. There are stories of multiple ghosts and spirits haunted by the trees around the bungalow. People can hear the sound of glass breaking, a girl laughing, screaming, crying, and multiple other voices. It not only seems creepy but spooky from the outside. But that has never frightened explorers and adventurers.

    2. Lakkidi Gateway

    Lakkidi Gateway a most haunted place in Kerala

    Location: Kozhikode-Mysore-Kollegal Highway, Lakkidi, Kerala

    The list of haunting places in Kerala never gets completed without mentioning Lakkidi Gateway. It is a scenic spot where many accidents have happened over time. And this has made the gateway a spooky place after day fall. This gateway is located in the Wayanad district.

    What happened here?

    It is said that during the Britisher era, there was a British engineer who was given the task of finding Lakkidi. In order to do that, he took the help of a local named Karinthandan. Upon finding the place, the engineer grew greedy and he killed the locality. But this was a big mistake. Due to this, the entire road became haunted with the spirit of Karinthandan. He never harmed anyone but only a look of his ghost gave a jump scare to the people.

    What spooky things happen here?

    Many eye-witnesses have confirmed that they have seen the ghost of Karinthandan loitering in the lane. Trespassers have also heard shrieks, calls for help and even screams while passing by this place during odd hours.

    3. Kariavattom

    Kariavattom a most haunted place in Kerala

    Location: Salem – Kochi – Kanyakumari Hwy, Karyavattom, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala

    How would you react when you get to know that your working place is haunted? No, you don’t have to panic because this is the story of Kariavattom. One of the haunted places in Kerala.

    What happened here?

    It is said that even before the creation of this IT hub; there were some bad things that were done at this place. And now, the entire campus is high-tech but the back gate of this place is said to be creepy.

    What spooky things happen here?

    The complaints of paranormal activities and creepy stuff has been a constant around the back gate of the campus. Although nothing fatal has been reported till date, still the place is said to have freaked out a lot of people.

    4. Trichur Forest

    Trichur Forest a most haunted place in Kerala

    Location: Central Kerala

    This is the perfect example of amazing beauty with a dark secret. Trichur Forest is a paradise for adventure junkies and explorers. But there have been some weird and unearthly activities that have been witnessed here.

    What happened here?

    If you were to believe the people around this place, they do not have a single story. It keeps changing and differs from village to village or place to place. But one of the most popular stories about this place is that a boy was kidnapped, killed, and dumped in the depths of the jungle. After which the ghost of this boy keeps haunting those who stays in the jungle after night.

    What spooky things happen here?

    There haven’t been any fatal situations but the forest department and officials motivate people to stay away from the forest during night. There have been a lot of campers who stayed here at night and have said the same thing. First, they hear a loud crying sound of a boy and then the ghost of a boy appears in the distance. Though there haven’t been any deaths registered from around here, still it is better to keep it that way.

    We know seeing these spooky places as one of the best adventure spots is highly daunting and exciting. But on the other hand, it is very important to consider all the odds. You should not be carefree around these places and when it is about the spooky places of Kerala; the list is very extensive. If you feel you have what it takes to conquer these places, then get an experienced person along.
