What comes to your mind when you first hear the word haunted? Or let me make this a bit clear, which place in India strikes first in your mind when you think about ghosts or unearthly activities? Most people would think about Rajasthan as there are a number of places that fit perfectly with this description. Then there would be places like Delhi Himachal Pradesh, Kolkata, and probably some other cities in North-East India and South India.

But we can bet that there would be less to no one who will connect ghostly stories or unearthly activities with Goa. But what if we tell you that, there are tens of places that have been haunted in Goa? Places that look normal in the daylight but show its deep secrets after day fall.

And what if we tell you that there are multiple attractions in Goa that are top-tourist places in the daytime and become spooky at night? Already shocked? We were the same when we got to know about these places too. So, here are some of the most haunted places in Goa where you can go for a day trip.

List of 5 haunted places in Goa that will surely leave you stunned

    1. Three Kings Church

Three Kings Church a haunted place in goa

    Location: Muder, Cansaulim, Goa

Three King’s Church is one name that no one forgets due to the story that tells it till date. It is one of the spookiest places in Goa and is said to be the residing place of not one but three ghosts. Where tourists visit here during the day and enjoy their time witnessing the beauty around, villagers suggest people to stay away from the church during the night.

What’s the spooky thing about this place?

This is a story about three kings who ruled in this region together. These four Portuguese kings were brothers of the same family. Once the eldest of them all was polluted by one of his people and in the greed of acquiring the entire place to himself, he killed both his brothers. According to many people he poisoned them and buried them under the church.

As soon as the villagers got to know about this, they opposed the king and blamed him for what he had done. The people demanded justice and refrained from calling him their king which traumatised the king a lot. It was an eye-opener for him and then he realised what blunder he had done. In this guilt, he himself consumed poison and committed suicide. The villagers then buried him beside the grave of his brothers. And it is said that the ghosts of these three brothers can be seen often around the church. And this makes the church haunted.

    2. Rachol Seminary Arch

Rachol Seminary Arch a haunted place in goa

Location: Fr. Agnelo Rd, Praca De, Rachol, Goa

If you consider yourself as a brave heart and want to experience something uncanny then Rachol Seminary Arch is the best place for you to visit in Goa. Although we suggest you stay away from here during the nights. It is one of the eeriest places in all of Goa.

What’s the spooky thing about this place?

First things first, apart from a handful of people who call themselves witnesses to an eerie encounter there are not many people who believe in the story. But according to the legends, this arch has been haunted since the Portuguese era. This place is said to be possessed by an unknown ghost who is said to appear during some festivals or special days. We believe this ghost is friendly and just wants to be a part of a celebration.

But nothing is for sure, this harmless-looking ghost can become dangerous, so just like the locals, we would suggest that you keep some distance from this place at night.

    3. Ghost Hotel

    Location: Goa

There was no better location other than this because this place is off the grid now. Either bravehearts or explorers go out in hunt of this place. And this place is completely abandoned.

What’s the spooky thing about this place?

This was originally known as Sina Hotel and was being built by a Russian. It is said that the hotel was never completed. If you were to believe the documents and other formal things, it clearly shows that the hotel wasn’t able to get the needed clearance from the government. But right after the construction of this hotel started, illegally, the owner was murdered. People say that it was the spirits and ghosts who did it. But nothing strong came up.

If you were to believe the locals or people who lived nearby, there have been instances where paranormal activities were seen. The ghost of the owners and some other spirits haunt the place. There have been eye-witnesses who have confirmed this too. But what’s true is still a mystery.

    4. Baytakhol

Baytakhol a haunted place in goa

    Location: Bori, Goa

If you are over the creepy story of the women in a white gown in the Delhi Cantt. the area then this is a new one for you. Baytakhol is a place that falls between Bori and Dhavali. And the route between these points is considered to be haunted.

What’s the spooky thing about this place?

It is said that the road that connects these two places is haunted in the middle. The entire stretch between the forest on both sides. There have been a lot of car accidents that have happened at this place and with no evidence found people have named it a haunted area. Until a few survivors who themselves witnessed the horror of this place. According to the people, this spooky place in Goa is known to be the home of a woman in white gown. She comes in between the road and cries for help. Those who are lucky and who do not stop get saved but those who wait and give a lift to the woman somehow meet their end in an accident.

    5. Saligao Village

Saligao Village a haunted place in goa

    Location: Saligao Village, Goa

Where the haunted stories given above are just at particular places, this one engulfs a complete village. A place which was once blessed with marvellous architecture and amazing buildings, has now turned into a haunted place.

What’s the spooky thing about this place?

There is nothing for sure that can be said about this place because there have been very less to none incidents here. People still live in fear because the banyan tree of the village is known to be the breeding ground of spirits. Dating back 6 decades, when Goa was under Portuguese rule, Saligao Village was also a good place to live. Until the day when a Portuguese man was kidnapped mysteriously only to be found in wounds and scratches. In his last breaths, he said that he was taken by the ghost of Christalina. But no one of this name lived there. And since then there have been a lot of violent paranormal activities experienced in the village.

    Conclusion

Even after knowing the horror stories behind these places would you still prefer visiting them? Even if you are an avid explorer who loves spooky places and enjoys catching some area activities; would you still go to any of these places? We believe taking the stories narrated by the locals should not be taken lightly. So, be very sure on your decision before heading for any of these haunted places in Goa.
